Its 8am and the pens are filling....

Lots of fleeces are arriving as well

On display are some beautiful coats made of Castlemilk skins - rare and very special (these are for sale so if anyone is interested please email us)

Its 10am and the white coats and lead ropes are coming out ready for the first class...

First in the ring are the shearling rams

Sheila Cooper with the winning shearling Bryncrib Arthur

Next was a very nice class of ram lambs, with Bridget Pearson's well grown lamb taking the red ribbon.

The shearling ewes were all looking very well and included the eventual show champion

Meanwhile back in the barn fleece judging was well underway

The mature ram class was the smallest of the day with 3 nice rams to select from

The mature ewe class by contrast was the largest with 11 entries from 2 years to 10 years old.

Ewe lambs also attended in good numbers

Though one contestant decided to hold a lying down protest when asked to walk round - but she soon sprung back to her feet and joined in the fun.

The final class before the championship was the group of three with an interesting variety of groups on show

With this wonderful group winning for Bridget Pearson

and finally the championship with a very hard task for Judge John Sanders

Bridget Pearson gets the Champion's cup with her shearling ewe, presented by our President Joe Henson

And the cup for the Reserve Champion is presented to Andy Harwood

And to close we had a fitting tribute for a Scottish breed of sheep - a lament from Castlemilk owner and piper Malcolm Halliday

Meanwhile the fleece judging was complete and the red rosette went to a very nice ewe fleece from Kathy Domaille's flock
